The North Bondi Roughwater Ocean swim organised and hosted by North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club was held on Sunday 12th January.
What a day it turned out to be. Sonja and Niamh had trained over the Christmas and were praying for calm waters. We were all greeted by pancake flat seas on Sunday morning.
First up was the 1k event. Sonja, Niamh, Dave, Enda, John and Neil took to the waters a little after 9.15am.
The support squad of Lysa, Tilly, Olivia, Cara, Conor, Al, Sophie, Jacob, Conor Lucey, Sophie, Olivia, Jen, Ollie, Angela, Cillian and KJ were on hand to cheer all the guys out of the water. Lots of screams and clapping welcomed the guys as they ran up the beach to the finish.
It was an amazing day in Bondi and the sausage sizzle at North Bondi went down a treat with all the kids.
Al and I swam the 2km at 10.30am. Really enjoyed swimming with Al. We both breath to different sides and it will be a lasting memory of this year as both of us swam side by side and stroke for stroke towards south Bondi and then back to the north.
